The Surfer: Meet Jeff

Vanworks:

Hey Jeff! Tell us a little about yourself and your van.

jeff:

My name is Jeff Beauregard. I’m from Salem, MA (The Witch City) and currently live in Franklin, MA and my van is Monty. (Instagram: @myvanmonty)

Vanworks:

What inspired you to buy your camper van? 

jeff:

I had been looking for a van for four to five years. I went down instagram rabbit holes, watched van build videos and dreamt of owning my own van. Vanworks was actually one of the first Instagram accounts that I followed many years ago. 

I am an avid surfer. I like camping and traveling and having a van I thought would make changing into my wetsuit in the cold winter months much easier, and of course warmer. It took me a while, but I finally jumped in head first and purchased a preowned van by Vanworks.

What has been your favorite destination so far and why? 

jeff:

In the five months I have had Monty I have taken a few family trips with my kids (Izzy 15, Aidan 14) to Mount Washington and North Conway, New Hampshire. Several beach weekends with my partner, Deb, and dozens of days surfing. It’s so comforting to have my own “home on wheels”. If I decide to extend my stay for a day or two, make coffee after a cold surf session, cook meals and get a good night sleep, I can do that all in my van. It’s fun and exciting and it provides a strange sort of vagabond comfort to have a home away from home.

What is something you didn’t expect about van life? 

jeff:

After buying Monty, I thought I would have to convince my kids and Deb to go places with me. As it turns out, they are figuring out things to do with the van and places I can take them. This has made me so happy to be able to spend more quality time with them and create adventures and experiences as a family and time with each of them one-on-one to create our own van life adventures.
